From Curiosity to Capability: Why AI Literacy Is Becoming the New Competitive Edge

Last Friday, Rhino brought together teams from across the organisation for Rhino x ICE – The AI Advantage, a live, high-energy keynote experience designed to turn artificial intelligence from an abstract concept into a practical business advantage.

As part of RhinoX — Rhino’s internal platform for sharing knowledge, ideas, and experiences across teams — the initiative creates space for both internal talent and external experts to inspire learning, innovation, and future-focused thinking across the organisation.

Delivered by Keith Vassallo, Head of Tech at ICE Malta – the two-hour online masterclass explored how AI is rapidly reshaping the way modern companies think, create, analyse, and operate — and why the organisations that learn fastest today will lead tomorrow.

Part keynote, part live demonstration, and part strategic roadmap, The AI Advantage was designed to inspire confidence rather than confusion. Participants gained hands-on insight into the tools, models, and workflows driving the current AI revolution, while also learning the critical thinking needed to use them responsibly and effectively.

At a moment when AI headlines are dominated by hype, fear, and speculation, Rhino’s approach remained refreshingly practical: focusing on real-world applications, tangible productivity gains, and human-led innovation.

The session guided teams through 3 Core Themes.

First, participants built strong AI foundations — understanding how modern AI models work, where their strengths lie, and where caution is required. From mastering effective prompting to recognising hallucinations and limitations, the keynote aimed to equip teams with the confidence to engage with AI intelligently rather than passively.

Second, the masterclass showcased AI in action through a series of live demonstrations across text, image, video, and coding workflows. Teams saw how today’s leading AI systems can assist with writing, summarisation, analysis, ideation, creative production, and rapid prototyping — not as replacements for human expertise, but as accelerators of it.

Finally, the keynote looked ahead at what comes next. As AI evolves from answering questions to making decisions, planning workflows, and autonomously executing tasks, organisations face a new challenge: how to harness unprecedented capability while maintaining human oversight, ethics, and accountability.

The experience proved dynamic, engaging, and deliberately optimistic — combining strategic insight with practical techniques employees can begin applying immediately in their day-to-day work.

In an era where AI adoption increasingly separates fast-moving organisations from stagnant ones, Rhino X ICE – The AI Advantage represents more than a learning session. It reflected a broader commitment to future-ready thinking, experimentation, and continuous innovation across the Rhino ecosystem.

Because the future of AI will not belong simply to the companies with the most advanced technology. It will belong to the companies whose people know how to use it best.
